FAMILY SAILING/MILITARY

Compass Point Veteran Outreach invites families out on the water for a lesson in teamwork for free!

As a family, you will learn the basics of sailing such as basic sailing terminology, sail trim, points of sail, crew responsibilities, seamanship and safety including capsize avoidance/recovery and navigation rules to avoid collisions.

Learning to sail is an educational experience that will encourage your family to get the best out of themselves.

It provides a unique sense of achievement, builds independence and responsibility as well as improving teamwork and communication skills.

FAMILY SAILING/CIVILIAN

Compass Point Veteran Outreach champions the following views: "The family is the first and vital cell of society.......and....."As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live" (Vaticanva, 1986).

In that spirit, we at Compass Point are expanding our parameters to encompass civilian families that our Veteran families enjoy, with the exception of cost; we will offer a sliding fee scale that assures that no one will be turned away, or refused assistance, based on financial reasons and those with health insurance will be able to apply the assistance. Our staff includes Masters-level behavioral health clinicians, teachers, nurses, physicians, and Doctorate-level Clinicians in Mental Health.

Compass Point hosts its annual Open House during the weekends in May every year. Sailing programs are conducted out of the Port Sanilac Municipal Harbor with a beach, bar-b-que, and kayak retreat located just twelve miles north of Port Sanilac.
